In a democracy, free exchange of ideas and discourse, and criticism are guaranteed and protected regardless of sex, creed or political conviction. For the Government through its Justice Secretary to justify the villification of critics and progressives by resorting to the Cold War-era communist bogey is to sanction reprisals for speech and activism critical of government. Red-tagging is state-sanctioned repression intended to silence dissent in the face of growing Government ineptitude to address the multiple crises plaguing the country.
